Determine The Right Size Of Your Right-Of-Way Audience - Discover Your "Universe."

You ask, "How many pipeline right-of-way awareness pieces should I mail?"   To determine the precise size (number or count) of your right-of-way audience or "universe", we use the Integrated Pipeline Mapping Process shown to the left - a system that allows us to mate your pipeline engineered drawings or longitude/latitude data, with street, road, county, ZIP+4, and Carrier Route information into a single composite of the residences within the vicinity of your pipeline.

STEP 1DIGITIZE YOUR PIPELINE MAP (DRAWINGS)

Provide us with map prints:  We prefer either standard county maps (1" = 2 miles scale) with your pipeline drawn in place, or similarly scaled engineered drawings that indicate vital reference points such as streets or road intersections.  It is not necessary, but helpful, if the maps display latitude/longitude information.  Either way, we will digitize your pipeline drawings into our computer system.

Provide us with digital information:  Your draftsperson must tell us what coordinate base is projected.  We still prefer to have your engineered drawings to spot check for accuracy of the digitized information and ensure proper orientation with the earth.  Systems that are already digitized will greatly accelerate the process.

STEP 2  — OVERLAY PIPELINE MAP WITH STREETS/COUNTY LINES

From here we overlay your pipeline data with associated counties or parishes and associated streets and county roads to assure that the pipeline is accurately positioned.

STEP 3  — OVERLAY MAP COMPOSITE WITH POSTAL ROUTES

Now we overlay the pipeline positioning coordinates with postal routes: ZIP+4 Route and Carrier Route boundaries and merge with residential database lists.

ZIP+4 Routes designate where a postal mail carrier walks or drives each day.  Most ZIP+4 Routes are high-density, urban routes and contain from 1 to 25 residences.

Carrier Routes designate where a postal mail carrier walks or drives on a route each day.  Carrier routes, most of which are in rural areas, contain approximately 300 to 500 residences and can be quite large with great distances between mail drops.

STEP 4  — PROCESS AND ANALYZE RIGHT-OF-WAY DATA

Postal route information, current RESIDENT ONLY postal lists, and digital mapping files are merged to produce a composite of the mailing areas covering the entire pipeline right-of-way.  Once processed, a finite resident count is achieved, and graphic representation delineating the affected ZIP+4  Routes and Carrier Routes is produced. Zip codes and resident counts are verified and a written report is prepared for your authorization to proceed with mailing.  Your "universe" is established.

STEP 5  — ADDRESS AND MAIL

With the "universe" defined, it's on to mailing. Mailers are labeled and prepared for mailing.  The Pipeline Group operates its own in-house database management as well as addressing and mailing service in Midland, Texas.
